diy | pine cone garland

This year, I promised myself that I'd truly savor the holiday season. I guess I promise myself that every year; it's just really easy to get swept up in a daily routine that revolves around the quickened pace of the world. It's even easier to blame the lack of time--the one we are so often faced with--on the importance of the expectations that arrive with this pace. I know I'm guilty of doing so. The truth is, some things should be more important than our routine. Some things we should make time for. That is what the holidays gently remind us of. I am taking some time to slow down and do some plain activities that I don't normally have time to do, which brings me to this little project. It is really simple, but it makes me happy and I hope it will make you happy too.

what you'll need:
pine cones (various sizes)
white embroidery floss

1. cut your embroidery floss to a desired length | decide which order you will string your pine cones together in (mine alternated between large and small)

2. wrap the string around the pine cone about 1/3 down from the top

3. tie a knot

4. repeat until you reach the desired length

Now, go drink some hot chocolate and enjoy the holiday season. xx
